Nick's Garage & China town - Home Sweet Home!

Today was the final day of G-Shock photo shoot. All we needed today was some lifestyle shots of Nick and Alyssa. Went over to Nick's place for his lifestyle.

I can tell we are all busy people because the whole time we were shooting, our phones were ringing non stop. so right after the shoot, everyone's on their phones returning calls.

Met up with Alyssa after she was done with school and we went to China Town for her lifestyle shots.

stole this photo from Alyssa's blog. (http://www.go-naminori.com/alyssa/)

We were walking around finding some cool spots. resting a little before we walked some more to find more cool locations.

The waves in town has been really good so i stopped by Kewalos after the shoot. Ran into Keanu Asing there.
This guy is traveling a lot surfing QSs and Jr Pros so it's nice to see him at home enjoying Hawaii's perfect weather and recharging before he leaves to Cali again in a week.

We have one free day tomorrow before Taka goes back to Japan. Nick's one hard working guy always trying to get good shots for his sponsors. So he'll probably make me shoot in the water even tho we are done with G-Shock photo shoots. ha ha.

Super busy but great few days with the G-Shock crew! They got really great group of team riders. i wish every photo shoots are as fun as G-Shock ones.

Did you check out the new webisode? If you haven't, click on the picture below to check it out and watch Hawaii's young surfers having fun free surfing!

S3W12: Free Surf Sessions March

Maybe because the gas is expensive and I'm not driving as much but March was a little disappointment as far as the waves go. I still got some clips of Hawaii's surfer kids having fun out in the water.

So here's some clips from March free surf sessions.

Enjoy!

Thank you Karma - All smiles with the G-Shock crew - A Happy Customer

the whole headlight assembly from my moped was stolen few weeks ago so i've been keeping my eyes out for it.

this morning, I was driving to meet up with G-Shock crew and spotted a moped on a side of a road with the same exact crack on the turn signal lens as mine. i KNEW it was mine and it was the guy who stole it!

i was ready to confront the guy so i stopped my van, but... i was looking around and saw the guy sitting down covering his bloody face with his hand.

I guess he crashed and hit his face on the road. he had bloody face with 2 missing teeth!

i just looked at him and drove off with a big smile on my face. I'm a big believer of Karma and i think it took care of him for me. so stoked!

G-shock crew and i were going to north shore but town ended up having better waves. so we had our session at Big Rights. we were lucky because after a couple of hours, the waves stopped coming.

feel like all we do are surf and eat when i'm with Nick... Taka, Jun, Joel and I had a single plate each but Nick had a extra huge bowl of rice with his meal. man, Nick can eat!

Nick stole my picture yesterday so i decided to steal this one from him. ha ha.
Check out Nick's site www.NickMita.com

I know Jun checks out my site so he knows the rules in my van. well, he'll be drinking this day old coffee or doing a beach cleanup tomorrow!
The cup even got his name on it so Jun's busted for sure! ha ha.

I love shooting for G-shock! Everyone's super cool and fun to be around with. I think we all had huge smiles on our faces the whole time. oh wait, Joel's always smiling... i wonder if he was having fun or it was just another normal day for him. ha ha.

Kapu just stopped by to buy my moped. i wasn't using it so i gave him a super duper good deal. i know he can make 4 times the money if he wants to resell it and i got some lunch money. i just hope i don't see him riding that thing with a flashlight as a headlight. ha ha.

G-Shock photo shoot!

Today was the 1st day of photo shoot with G-Shock! I was with their riders Nick Mita, Alyssa Wooten and G-Shock manager, TK.

I love working with G-Shock. They take care of me and their riders really well and TK is the coolest guy to work with.

Right after our early morning photo shoot.

Brunch, rest, life style shoot and went to our 2nd surf photo session.

Zeke showed up and joined with Nick and Alyssa. Right after the session Kylen showed up with like 10 kids in his truck. ha ha.
Now i gotta work all night going over the photos and start editing for tuesday's webisode. Looks like we got a North West swell coming in so off to North Shore tomorrow. 4 more days of G-Shock photo shoots left!

The Moniz kids are taking over!

The Moniz kids are taking over!!
Roxy's been using Kelia "Sister" a lot and keep releasing new commercial/videos of her like every month.
Here's the newest one!

Now Billabong is featuring Isaiah, Josh and Seth too! Some great surfing from the boys.

Here's the video featuring Isaiah.

and here's the video featuring Josh and Seth!

I think their father, Tony is becoming "The Moniz kids' dad" instead of "Surf Legend Tony". ha ha.

It must be pretty cool for their parents to see their kids succeeding in what the whole family love to do.

Good job Moniz kids!

HSA Makaha

The waves are picking up!

Saturday, March 19, 2011

The final day at NSSA Regional Championships!

Today was the 3rd and final day of NSSA Regionals. This morning we were greeted by a double rainbow!

The waves were smaller but still rippable.

Had the awards at the beach.
Everyone surfed great! Many divisions were really hard to guess who won since they were all ripping out there.

One person who impressed me the most today was Finn McGill! He was going vertical doing some man turns and he's only 10yrs old! Great job Finn!

Mahina Maeda is the Open Women NSSA Hawaii Conference Champion this year.

And EJ Mitsui is the Open Mens NSSA Hawaii Conference Champion this year. He also received the Sportsmanship award!
Congrats to all NSSA Hawaii surfers! this 2010-2011 season in Hawaii is done and now off to Nationals in June for those of you who qualified!

It's been a long 3 days... but we aren't done yet! There's a HSA event at Makaha tomorrow for all guys' shortboard divisions. See you there!

NSSA Regionals - A session with Joel Centeio and Jason Shibata - Aloha for Japan Hat?!?!

Today was the 1st day of NSSA Regional Championships at Kewalos. The waves picked up since few days ago. Good thing because the waves sucked till yesterday late afternoon.
It was good to see kids compete in some fun waves. I must say, Josh Moniz impressed me today the most. yes, i surf with him all the time but he's a mellow guy so usually let other people have the better waves and he catches smaller waves.

During the contest, he was catching the best waves and he was destroying the waves with his power hacks, barrels, airs, etc.

After watching him surf today, i know if he keeps working hard, he will be in the CT (or is it World Tour now?) one day.

After the contest many contestants left to rest but the waves were getting better and better. I was filming all day so i decided to surf with Joel Centeio and Jason Shibata along with other people who were waiting for the contest to end to free surf.

Yes, i'm a kook specially compare to Joel and Jason... I love surfing with them tho. They are just stoked to be out surfing, they give me waves and get stoked for me when i surf well. (when i say well, i mean good for me but decent to other people. ha ha)

It was the best Kewalos i surfed in a while. Hope the swell stays for the next 2 day of the contest!

After the session, I stopped by In4Mation to see if they got more Aloha for Japan stickers. well, stickers were all out and shirts were still all out with a long waiting list... BUT look what they had!
That's right, Aloha for Japan hat! I was so excited cuz i can wear hats everyday unlike a shirt. $20 and all profit goes towards Japan Earthquake/Tsunami Relief!

Speaking of Aloha for Japan, Mahina Maeda is supporting the effort by putting the sticker on her board! (Photo: www.ka-ena.com)
Hang in there Japan! Hawaii got your back!

Lazy thieves - The kids are here! - Aloha for Japan!

Today i stepped outside of my house an i saw this!
Kidding me? someone stole the whole upper from my moped. was i pissed? not really. there are so much going on in Japan right now, i could careless.

One thing that bothered me was how thieves are so lazy these days. if you are gonna steal stuff, steal the whole thing!

I guess that's why thieves are thieves. lazy guys who are too lazy to put some work into stealing the whole moped.

I'll just let karma take care of this.

When I went to Kewalos, kids were out there in full force! Outer island kids are here now and they are all there to practice for NSSA Regional Championships.
The contest should run starting on Thursday.

Aloha for Japan shirts are sold out everywhere. They are printing every night to meet the demands. Thank you everyone for buying the shirts to show your support!

Stickers are available at some locations. $3 each and all profit goes to Hawaii Red Cross for their Japan Earthquake/Tsunami relief effort so go get yours!

Zeke's supporting it! Aloha for Japan!
Hang in there Japan. Hawaii got your back!

S3W10: HSA at Makaha and a Trip to an Emergency Room

HSA Hawaii held a contest at Makaha this weekend. It was just for Girls, Women, and Menehune 1A shortboards, Longboards, SUP, and Bodyboards divisions. The waves were nice size and everyone was having fun out there.

Jenna Forti got hurt after getting 3rd in Girls Shortboard division so we had to leave and take a trip to an emergency room. It was the most fun I had in an emergency room. ha ha.

Enjoy the video!

HSA Makaha - A Field Trip to an Emergency Room - Aloha For Japan Shirt

There was an HSA contest at Makaha yesterday. The waves were super fun size. I was impressed by how girls were surfing so well out there. boys better watch out!

Jenna Forti surfed well and got 3rd in girls shortboard division BUT when she slipped on slippery shower and the handle (to turn on and off the water) stabbed her in her hand. When i say stabbed, i really mean stabbed. she told me that she had to pull her hand off of the handle and the cut was deep. The lifeguard at Makaha patched her up but told us she is going to need stitches.

We packed up and had a field trip to an emergency room. So much for an "emergency". We ended up waiting for hours. Mahina, Jenna, Joy and Heidi making the most out of boring waiting time.

Once it was Jenna's turn, we all went in with her to support and check out her injury.

a moment before a nurse dug into her cut to clean it up.

The way the girls were sitting, i couldn't even tell who needed help. Good thing Jenna was wearing a cool robe to identify she's the one who needs help. ha ha.

i think Heidi was more interested about Jenna's cut than Jenna.

Jenna getting her first ever stitches.

3 stitches in total. The doctor patched Jenna up pretty good.

As soon as we were outside, Jenna was back being Jenna.

The robe was so cool we ended up "borrowing" the robe indefinitely. ha ha
Jenna's all good now. She just has to not go nuts for a few days.

Japan is still getting pretty big after shocks and making rescue effort really though.

Don't forget to stop by In4Mation Ward, FITTED, BUTI-GROVE HAWAII, or BAREFOOT LEAGUE and buy your ALOHA for Japan shirt. $20 and all profit goes to Hawaii Red Cross for their effort in their Japan earthquake relief effort.
