Wow, what a long and fun day i had today! i picked up Zeke (Ezekiel Lau) in the morning and our original plan was to go to North Shore but we found out it's junk up there so we ended up going to Tracks.
Tracks was going off! super fun waves, so i filmed the whole time we were there.
after lunch, we went to Kewalos to see how the waves were. there was no parking, that's a sign of good waves! and sure enough, the waves were super fun!
Tons of gorms were there enjoying a nice day at the beach.
Finn McGill was taking a break from his multiple sessions.
i love Finn! no matter what he's doing when i point my camera at him, he always does something funny!
Cayla Moore was watching her sister Carissa surfing getting amped to go surf.
Makana Pang was snacking on fresh fruit so he can be energized to surf, again. i'm not sure how many sessions he had today, but i know he surfed twice when i was there.
and i was sweating in my RLM wetsuit top since i'm a dork and put my suit on 30 minutes before i swim out to shoot. ha ha. thanks RLM, loving the suit! and thanks Finn for taking this photo!

Gen Asano's surfing so good these days. If i can put him on a real board instead of his almost broke in 100 pieces used board, i bet he will be surfing 10x better! hint, hint all of you shapers and companies. ha ha.
Tia Blanco is another grom who's surfing better and better every time i see.
Mahina Maeda, aka Alessa Quizon's mini me! ha ha. we all think Mahina surfs just like Alessa when Alessa was younger. hope Mahina keeps it up cuz i really want to see them going against each other in the CT in the future!

I love watching these kids ripping but more than anything else, i love watching them having fun! I think that's what surfing should be, fun! and when kids are having fun, their expressions are priceless.

People always ask me how close i get to the surfer when i shoot. well, i tell them to run me over... so i get really close specially when i'm shooting with a wide angle lens.
here's a good example from today.

so yes, i do get really close. i only get really close to people i trust tho, when i don't know how a person surfs, i stay faaaaar away. ha ha.
i trust Geoff, he can surfs really good on both shortboarding and longboarding.
by the way, i hate taking this kind of shots because i know in a second, i'm going to get pounded by the wave. and yes, i did get pounded after taking this shot but i got a cool shot tho. ha ha.
Remember how i talked about i'm getting involved with Hawaii Meth Project? i've been talking to some kids and i asked Coco Ho , Sister (Kelia Moniz), and Zeke (Ezekiel Lau) if they will support the cause, "Not Even Once" (not trying meth even once), and they are all stoked to support it!

They are all really successful at what they do! Coco is a Rookie of the Year CT surfer, Zeke's a NSSA Open Jr National Champ, Sister is a world class longboarder and the face of Roxy! i can guarantee you if they were smoking ice, they won't be where they are today. so all the groms out there, join Zeke, Coco and Sister and don't even go near drugs!

I love my life! i get to spend all day at the beach and get to watch kids having fun. and the crazy part is, everyday, that is better the day before! watch, i bet tomorrow is going to be even better than today!
