picked up the girls this morning in Kaz's Surf Shuttle and we were off!
our original plan was to go to the west side but our friend told us it's small there, so we ended up going to North Shore, Ehukai beach to be exact.
when we were getting ready we ran into JPSA (Japan Professional Surfing Association) surfers and my friends Nick Mita and Teppei Tajima.
when's the last time you got to share a field and play football with pros you look up to? NEVER!! But in surfing, you get to surf with pro surfers you look up to almost everyday if you know where the waves are.
Nick and Teppei are one of those really nice pros. they are always stoked to meet new people and they will stop and talk to you with smiles on their faces for long time until you say "Hey, you guys better go out and surf!". and when i say "stop and talk", i mean they really talk to you with interest. i've seen them talking to their fans with their boards under their arms while waves are going off, them sweating from standing in the sun with their wetsuit top on, all while them smiling and really listening and talking to the fans!
Can you imagine being a kid and some one you look up to you did that to you? i bet the kid will never forget that and influence the kid to be good and kind like them when they grow up!
Nick, Teppei and Jason Shibata got a cool website now, it's www.BehindTheWaves.com!
have you ever wonder what the JPSA pros go through? well, here it is! Check out Behind The Waves and find out!
I'm so stoked that they are working together and started the site. I don't think there are any better role models than these guys for all the surfer kids out there!
After a session at Ehukai Sand Bars, we went to lunch and went to Haleiwa for a second session.
the waves were smaller but they were lining up really nice and kids had a blast there. i even recruited a couple of workers! ha ha.
Thanks girls!
I was so stoked to cruise with the girls, I didn't see some of them for over two weeks! i love all of my kids like they are my own now.
Only 2 hours of sleep, driving them around everywhere all day while listening to them talking (more like yelling most of the time...) at the same time the whole ride, gets me really exhausted... i mean BUT when i see them smiling, laughing and having fun, there are nothing in the world i'd rather be doing!
A crappy weather but an amazing day! Tomorrow is an HSA contest at Tracks, i get to see all of my kids!!
