Today was an HSA contest at Kaka'ako Beach and there were some some big waves! it was so nice, i was getting calls from people all day wanting to shoot. ha ha.
It was so nice to see kids i haven't seen in weeks and some new kids starting to do contests!
Remember Elle? she started helping me out with Novus Swell and she came to the contest today!
She's been helping me filming and taking photos. she's good! i might lose my job... good thing i own Novus Swell, i'm not going to fire myself, ever! ha ha.
another great thing about her is, she is really great with kids. It is always CRAZY at the beach when i'm around. at any given time, there are at least 4 kids screaming, 8 kids talking over each other and 6 kids asking me questions at the same time! Elle handles the madness super well, she's kind to all the kids and try to listen to them all.
Thanks Elle for helping me out! Now i only have 3 kids asking me questions at the same time since other 3 are asking you questions! ha ha.
I let some kids (including Elle) walk around with my camera to take some photos, so most of the photos were taken by them. Thanks guys and girls!
Since Derek Wong, Kylen and Cole Yamakawa got sponsored by Sharks energy drinks, they've been bringing cases to the contests. They were taking some photos of kids with Sharks drink today. (don't worry parents, i'm not letting any young kids drink them since i believe kids don't really need to be drinking energy drinks.)
When Kylen was drinking it, i just saw an opportunity to snap a rubber band on his back.
Everyone thought it was super funny, but when i looked at Kylen's back... i felt so bad!!
I never thought it was going to be this bad! sorry Kylen.
When i was eating my breakfast, Jenna asked me if she can have some bacon.
it's kindda hard to tell, but i was slapping the bacon strip all over her face because she called me an "uncle" earlier... again! ha ha.
Mahina brought her Crusty the Rusty punching bag thing she got yesterday to the contest today!
Crusty provided hours of fun. All the kids were beating him up like crazy! He was getting kicked, tossed, punched, and attacked all day! ha ha.
I want to congratulate all the kids who surfed today. the waves were really big for these kids but they were all out there surfing really well.
Wyatt Mchale has been impressing me a lot lately. He surfed unreal today and last week's NSSA Regionals. He has the sickest cutbacks i've ever seen any kids his age do and he was fearless taking off on some huge waves today.
Great job Wyatt! and everyone remember his name, cuz i have a feeling we will be hearing his name a lot in the future!
some of us went to Kewalos after the contest and the waves were picking up all day. While we were there, a freak set came in. The waves were huge!! They were so big, they broke over the channel almost tipping over a boat with a stupid captain who had no patient to wait to go out.
i want to say the whitewater on this wave was like 25 feet high. if you look closely, you can see a guy who's standing holding on to the folded sail! they were so lucky the boat never tipped over. i'm not sure if it was a tour boat but if it is, i will never go on that thing with that captain. he almost killed everyone who was on that boat!
I had a great day! the swell is supposed to be here tomorrow too. it's going to be an awesome day tomorrow!
