The first day of the ISA World JR Championship was on today for the guys divisions. The waves were JUNK but Hawaii guys ALL surfed really well. They all advanced to the second round!
Here are some photos i got from ISA.
Hawaii team at the opening ceremony.
Every team brings some sand from their country and put all the sand together in this one tank. I think that's a such a cool idea.
This year, Alessa Quizon got to share the Hawaii sand with the rest of the sand.
Looking sharp guys and girls!
I love how the team cheer and support their team mates. remember, these kids compete against each other all the time here in Hawaii.
Ian Gentil surfed so good. don't let this photo fool you, the waves were really junk.
Isaiah Moniz's been surfing amazing these days too. I didn't see him for like a month and when i saw him last week, he looked like a man. here he is doing a grown man backside bottom turn.
The most consistent, solid surfer, Keanu Asing. He makes any crappy waves look really fun.
Ezekiel Lau, Koa Smith, Tanner Hendrickson, Kaimana Jaquias, and Kain Daly did amazing too but couldn't find any photos from ISA.
So proud of all the Hawaii team representing Hawaii. Good luck and have fun!
After watching the event online, John and I went to surf town for a bit and went to my favorite restaurant, Irifune on Kapahulu!
This place got the best food and BYOB. so we got a 12 pack and enjoyed amazing food.
I wanted to take photos of all the food but i kept forgetting since all i wanted to do was eat. ha ha.
Here's Garlic Mushroom Tofu, this thing goes so well with beer!
Summer Rolls! This thing is sooooo gooooood! Every time i go there and eat their Summer Roll, i almost cry. it's that good! We ate some as soon as we got them so here's a photo of what was left 2 seconds after we got them.
The owner, Toshi, there is a surfer and i've known him for a while now. He hooked us up with some Deep Fried Tofu! This thing is so good too! Thanks Toshi!
I totally forgot to take photos of the rest of the food we got since i was busy just eating! ha ha.
If you haven't been there, go there NOW!
Irifune is located at
563 Kapahulu Ave. Honolulu, HI 96815
right next to Uncle Bo's.
We were so full but on our way back to my place we stopped at Leonard's to get some malasadas. ha ha.
so next time you see me, i might be fat. ha ha.
