I picked up Nicole and Devin Brueggemann and we went to North Shore today. our original plan was to go to Ehukai or Vland but the traffic by Haleiwa was nuts!
We were stuck there and not moving for a long time. so we decided to just turn around nad check out Haleiwa first.The waves were looking fun at Haleiwa but crowded with everyone practicing for the Reef Hawaiian Pro event starting tomorrow.
We were in the car for a long time so these kids HAD to get out and do something. so we decided to paddle out there.
It looked like most of the people were going right so we decided to shoot the left. The lighting wasn't the best but the kids got to catch their share of waves!
Nage Melamed was ripping out there. her backside turns were unreal.
Brianna Cope was out too. has anyone told her that her face might get stuck like this if she keeps making this face? haha.
see that, when she doesn't make funny face, she's such a pretty girl.
Devin was so stoked to be in the water after over an hour in the car.
He's been getting better and better every time i see him. he just won his first NSSA event this past week. he's stoked!
i wasn't even going to drive to north shore today but Nic convinced me to drive up there. i hate it when these kids give me that poor puppy look. how can i say no.
she recently got picked up by Zionic Watches and she's been wearing them everywhere. i like that 2 watches look. Congrats Nic!
She's so nice and not aggressive at all so she was having a hard time catching waves without people dropping in. when she got her own waves, she was all smiles tho.
Speaking of Zionic Watches, congrats to Vance Tsuda, Jacinda Seale, Jamie Vergara, John Grasse, Chasen Kim, Michael Andres, Devin Brueggemann (yes, Devin entered and won cuz even tho Nic got picked up by Zionic. haha) and Priscilla Calle for winning the giveaway i had for Zionic Watches!
I couldn't mail anything out today since it was a holiday so i'll mail the watches out tomorrow!
After our Haleiwa session, we decided to try again to hit up Ehukai. The traffic wasn't that bad at all this time so we were off to Ehukai!
We ran into bunch of kids there and waves were looking pretty fun at Gums. Devin and Nic paddled out with their friends while this lazy and out of shape guy sat on the beach and filmed.
Traffic again on our way home! I guess the season has officially started. so everyone, make sure you got enough CDs, songs in your iPod, DVDs, tapes (if you are still old school like that, haha) or whatever it is you use for entertainment while driving. this is just the beginning of another crazy season with tons of traffic in north shore!
I hope everyone's ready for Da Hui Beach Clean Up this Saturday, cuz i am!
i hope i see lot of you groms there.
my friend needs to use my van for a couple weeks so i won't have my van. if you need a ride, try asking around. i know lot of people are going from all over the island.
if you can't find a ride after asking everyone, let me know. i driving my Celica so i can take a couple of kids up there.
oh, one last thing. i've heard lot of ski resorts are opening up this weekend including Mt. High in southern california. i wish i can be there to snowboard but i guess i'll settle for surfing good waves in my trunks. haha.
if you do go snowboarding, have fun and be safe. specially at Mt. High. i know that place will have the crappiest snow/slush/ice not really safe to snowboard on. trust me, i've been there on opening days many years when i lived in cali.
