A Visit to Darren Tatsuno's Shaping Place

i had to talk to darren (tatsuno) about some business stuff and derek wanted to order a board for this winter season so derek and i headed over to darren's place yesterday.

i've never seen the whole process of surfboard shaping. i know so many shapers these days use a machine to shape boards and just do the final touches, but darren hand shapes boards the whole process. so it was an awesome treat!

talk about a custom shape, darren used at least 6 different templetes to get exactly what he and derek tlaked about.

it was my turn to talk business with darren. so we crack opened some beers for our grown ups' business meeting.

darren invited me and derek for a dinner so we just put derek to work, again! ha ha
