It was Billabong Jr. Pro at Sunset beach today. since it's a two day contest i didn't have to be there but i loaded up my cooler and drove down there to support Mobi team riders and other kids i became really close to.
i brought my BayVI tent with me (oh yeah if i haven't mention yet, i'm working with BayVI now) since Mobi tent was not available. i can't wait to get surf team Mobi tent so i can put 2 tents next to each other to get more shades for everyone!
this is a huge event for surfers under 20 so all the kids (well, i guess i shouldn't call some of them kids anymore...) from all the islands were there to surf.
the waves were head high and the condition was not the greatest but these guys and girls were ripping!
today was 1st and 2nd round for guys and up to semi finals for girls.
the rest of the heats will be held with Excel Pro at sunset end of this month or begining of November.
whenever there's a contest for amatures here in oahu everything is usually setup by wendell. here's tammy (moniz) and wendell working hard to keep the contest running smoothly. it's awesome how some parents are so involved. they are always willing to help if anyone needs help with any contests.
i caught tammy sitting on this shot but she was running around all day between judges tent and the main tent.
since the guys' heats were done before girls' heats some of the guys went to v-land to surf some more. i went over there to pick up zeke (lau) and matty (costa) after the contest. i thought it might be nice to take a group shot of them so they can look back later in their lives . this is what i got... i don't think i'll ever get a shot of them being normal...
it was a long day. there's a NSSA contest at sunset this weekend so i'll be back there again!!
