Derek Wong came over to my house at 730am!! that's super early for me because i usually go to sleep around 430am. the reason why he came over was... he got a new stereo head unit for his ride and wanted me to install it.
Derek was one of the original groms i drove around. can't believe he's 20 now going to college and working part time. He's still surfing all the time when he can find free time. actually, he just won his division at Local Motion Surf Into Summer this past weekend!
when Derek got his first car back in the day, i installed his stereo system for him and after that everyone comes to me for their stereo installations. i should've never done Derek's stereo. ha ha.
this time was little different since Derek got a head unit with a DVD player and a huge screen. i've never done a DVD head unit before. to make things harder Derek wanted me to bypass one of the features, the one makes it impossible to play DVDs while the car is moving.
i did my research and figured out what i should do BUT i needed a 12v universal relay.
we went to auto parts stores and wal-mart but no one had one. we had to wait till 9am for Radio Shack to open. i wish Derek came over at 830am instead of 730am... ha ha.
once i got the relay, the installation was easy! took less than an hour total.
i made Derek put all the trims and knobs back on. he was stoked how it came out so didn't even care i was putting him to work.
Now Derek can watch a movie while he's driving! if he gets in an accident because he's too busy watching a DVD, i'm not responsible for it!! ha ha.
after i installed the stereo, i went to pick up Tia Blanco, Nicole Brueggemann and Kylie Nagy so they can do some products reviews for me. we stopped to get a bag of ice and ended up buying some candies. ha ha. but i have a good excuse.
i found a GIANT Kit Kat, look how huge that thing is! i just HAD to buy it and also HAD to buy a regular size one to compare. ha ha.
we met up with more groms at the beach and they surfed all day while i filmed. can't tell you what products we were reviewing yet, i'll make a webisode of it soon so keep coming back!
I want to congratulate Carissa Moore and Kelia "Sister" Moniz!
Carissa is graduating from Punahou school and RedBull threw her a huge party for her last week. i wanted to post some photos from it but i was hired by RedBull to take photos of the event so i had to wait for RedBull to release the photos.
and yes, RedBull gave her a jetski! she deserves it! she finished Punahou WHILE chasing her dream of becoming a WCT surfer and you know what? as of beginning of this year, she has been a WCT surfer! Congrats Carissa!

Kelia "Sister" Moniz is the poster girl AGAIN this year for ASP Longboard Championship, Roxy Jam!
I was so stoked for her last year when she was the poster girl for this event, but this year again?!?! that's amazing! i need to get some of the posters and have her autograph them. so Sister, keep some posters for me!
just like Derek, Sister was one of the first groms i drove around to go surf. i'm so stoked that they all still keeping in touch with me and help me out with my 2nd generation groms. Thank you all of my original groms! (no, i don't care how old you are now. you will always be "groms" to me. ha ha.)
i want to thank BayVI and VitaminWater/SmartWater really quick.
I've been working with BayVI for a while now. they are cool surf/skate company from Hawaii but it is expanding fast! they are now international brand and growing fast.
Did you see Mark Walhberg (actor, and producer of HBO hit series Entourage) at the NBA playoffs?

Everyone knows VitaminWater and SmartWater right? well, they've been hooking me up with drinks so groms can hydrate themselves at contests and beaches after surfing. this is HUGE for me and all the groms! Thanks to VitaminWater and SmartWater groms are not passing out on me anymore. ha ha.
nah, nah. really tho, hydration is so important when you stay in the sun all day like we do. Thanks VitaminWater and SmartWater!

Long post today, but i'm just amazed at all the support i get from everyone. i can go on and on since so many people support and help me out. thank you everyone!
