Practice at Kewalos - Link to live Japan news - How can I help Japan Earthquake Relief Effort?
I went to Kewalos to see who'e practicing for NSSA Regionals today. The ocean was still moving in weird directions but not as bad ad yesterday.
When i got there, Nicole Brueggemann just came in so i gave her some fries.

Devin Brueggemann came in after a while to switch boards to try out his new board. Devin wouldn't stop dancing so i ended up getting this weird photo. ha ha.
I went out for a session with Nicole and Devin. When we paddled out, there weren't many people out but Noa and Malia Mizuno and Keanu Asing came out while we were surfing.

If you know me, you know i'm always up to bet! We decided on $2 bet, Noa gets 5 waves and he needs to do a reverse, which he's been working on lately.
well... i lost. Noa busted a nice reverse on his 4th wave.
I thought i was going to win since Noa's been only working on reverse really recently. I don't like how these kids can master new moves so fast! i've been working on doing reverses for over a year and i've only done it few times. ha ha.

He's been working hard. yes, work. Lot of people think surfers just surf for fun but once they have sponsors, they need to travel and surf all day trying to get photos and videos.
The weather was just perfect so everyone was hanging out between their sessions. It's so good for the younger kids because this is when they can ask older kids for advise and ask them questions.

It was a very peaceful nice day.

i've been having hard time sleeping since the earthquake in Japan. I'm watching Japanese news online and keep seeing/hearing about more messed up stuff.
Couple of explosions at nuclear power plant on top of what they are already going through, dead and missing number up to 2,800 people and I'm pretty sure the number will increase, people who survived are freezing at night even at their shelters, avalanches up in the mountains destroying more houses, etc. It's just nuts over there in Japan.
if you can understand Japanese, here's the link to live TBStv.
Many people have hit me up asking me how they can help Japan. Here's a webpage of list of organizations who are accepting donations towards their relief efforts.

I know some of ou are thinking what's $10 going to do if i donate. well, if everyone here in Hawaii donated $10 each, that's going to raise $12 million!! Every little bit counts.
I really hope Japan doesn't get anymore disasters and can start recovering from this mess.
I was lucky enough to get in touch with my families over in Japan but i know some people haven't been able to reach their families and friends. I hope you all get in touch with them really soon.

Found mom, she's ok!
What a crazy night. i'm sure you all know about the earthquake and tsunami in Japan. There was a tsunami warning here in Hawaii as well but i was up all night trying to get hold of my mom who lives in Yokahama.
Deep inside i knew she was ok since Yokohama is far from where the earthquake was centered but i was still worried. My brother is in Japan now and he was online the whole time so at least i had communication with him.
around 4am over here in Hawaii, i got an email from my brother telling me that mom is ok. she showed up to his place. I was so mad at my mom.
She was at grandma's house in Toyko when the earthquake happened. Some damage to grandma's house but nothing major so mom decided to go home to Yokohama! Is she nuts? She ended up walking for miles, some how caught a cab but after hours in the cab because of the chaos, she got out and started walking for miles to my brother's place.
I guess she was trying to call my brother but cellphones weren't working and eventually her cell's battery died. good thing my brother was at home.
i'm stoked mom is ok but was so mad for her to leave where she was safe (grandma's house) and left in the middle of chaos by herself!
lot of new photos and videos are being released today. This photo is nuts! shows the amazing power of tsunami. you can't really see but behind all the trees, there's a 30 ft tall wall to protect the town from tsunami. so crazy to see how 30ft wall wasn't tall enough.
I found my mom but i know there are tons of people who haven't got in touch with their families and friends. i really hope they all find each other. There are so much damage everywhere, i know Japanese government is having a hard time allocating rescue workers and funds. Japanese are tough when it comes to disasters, but i really hope they can recover from this.
Hawaii and Japan have a strong relationship. There are different companies trying to raise funds to help Japan already.
Hawaii’s based GRP HOME CO. has gotten together to raise money for our friends and family in Japan. They are releasing Aloha For Japan Ts on March 14th. $20 each and ALL PROFITS will be donated to Red Cross Hawaii towards rescue effort in Japan.

The shirts will be available at Booti-Groove Hawaii, In4Mation Ward, FITTED Hawaii, and Barefoot League.
When i went surfing yesterday before the earthquake, i met Takeshi-san of HIC Japan and his friends. Everyone was so happy when we took this photo about 2 hours before the earthquake.
I stopped by Kewalos after tsunami warning has been lifted here in Hawaii. It was crazy there with bunch of little tsunamis. it was like watching tide drop to super low exposing the reef and filled into full high tide win 5 minutes.
i know Japan is still getting lot of after shocks. if you are in Japan, please be safe and don't get nuts and leave by yourself like mom did if you are somewhere safe already.

Tide/tsunami
Still weird at the beach. 5 minutes ago all the rocks were covered over at the beach park. Now all dry.
