HSA Makaha update

HSA Makaha update.  Sunday only! They'll be running girls & womens shortboards, menehune 1A, all longboards, and bodyboards division on Sunday. 

All other divisions will be run on next weekend.

Finn McGill's new SUP?? - Tent City Ward Shopping Center

Stop by Kewalos for a session in the late afternoon. the waves are still small but there were some fun ones.

McGills were there practicing. When Finn came in, he grabbed Zeke's board and he was tripping how big it is.

That thing looks like a SUP Finn holding it. ha ha.

There's a full on tent city going on on Ward Ave makai of Ala Moana Blvd. Looks like there are more tents everyday.
Zeke claims the East (left in the photo) side is the rich side and West side is the poor side. ha ha.

so i guess when the government kick them out of parks, they just move over to a sidewalk somewhere near by. i think by next month, there will be some big tents with multiple bedrooms on the rich, East, side.

do i feel bad? yes and no. i know some of them are just lazy but i know some of them really need help physically and mentally.

what's the solution? i have no idea. if you have any ideas, let the government know cuz we need to take care of things like this. Hawaii needs tourists to survive and this tent city is right where tourists come to shop.

i hope the government provide help to people who need them and motivate the lazy ones.

S3W9: Dax McGill Birthday Weekend

Dax McGill is turning 13 and had her annual Dax McGill Birthday at Ehukai beach park this past Saturday. Every year Dax and her family throw a big party at the beach with tons of food for everyone there.

The weather and the waves weren't the greatest but who cares, when there are tons of Dax's friends, beach, and ocean it's always fun. Specially with McGill's famous cake fight!

Carissa Moore!! - Dusty is going to take Kelly down! - Kaito's another Fryto moment - Brice surfboard Ezekiel Lau model

CARISSA MOORE!! that's right, she won the Roxy Pro today! So stoked for her. she's been training hard physically and mentally for this year's tour and looks like they are all paying off.

great start for her. the 1st event and 1st win this season. Go my fellow townie! ha ha.

It was interesting to watch this year's women's event because there are so many younger surfers. I must say the younger surfers are way better than all of the surfers who's been on the tour for while. it's nice to see more explosive surfing from the younger pros.

personally, i wanted to see Carissa and Coco in the final. Coco was surfing unreal too. If she had any other quarter finals heat, she would've advanced with her 14.50.
not a bad start for Coco, equal 5th! yes, like i've been saying for years... i still do want to surf like Coco when i grow up. ha ha.

Mens event still got one more day left. Dusty Payne is still in the game and he's killing it out there. he got Kelly Slater on his quarter final BUT he already took down Mic Fanning. I seriously think Dusty can take Kelly down too if he can keep surfing how he's been surfing.

watching all the amazing surfing got me all itchy to surf so went to Kewalos for a session.

Kaito showed up and had another Fryto moment... he brought all center fins for his board. no one else had any extra sets for he ended up surfing with them. just Kaito doing normal Kaito thing. ha ha.

I'm getting a new board shaped by Brice and he was there as well so i had a long talk with him about what i want and surf boards in general.

he also had some boards for me to try out to see what i like.

I love talking to Brice because he's good at explaining boards. I have no idea what different things on boards do to their characteristics. i just telling how i felt about the board i was trying and he explains to me in "dummy language" why the board was riding certain ways.

i learned a lot from him today. maybe i'll have him do a video series explaining surfboards soon so all of you can learn too.

we've decided what will be good for me. it's going to be a little modify version of Ezekiel Lau model. can't wait to try it out! i guess i'll find out if Zeke's really good or it's the board soon. i'll be tripping if i start doing air reverses and huge hacks like Zeke on Brice board. ha ha.

Another great weekend!

This weekend was another good one!

Saturday i stopped by Kapolei Verizon grand opening with Hawaii World Jr team autograph signing. (Photo: www.ka-ena.com)

I left Kapolei little early so i can be at Dax McGill's 13th birthday party at Ehukai beach park.
it was little cloudy but it didn't stop Dax and all her friends to have fun at the beach.

Hawaii World Jr team came to Ehukai after their signing and had a trial. Dax is in the trial so she surfed with them after surfing all day with her friends. talk about McGill energy. ha ha.

I spent the night over in Maeda family's house since there's an all day jr team trial. These kids surfed/train all day starting at 730am to 5pm.

you know the coaches are making these kids work hard when you find Zeke napping after a quick lunch before their 3rd session.

rest of the day they were doing photoshoots, trials and training.

Everyone surfed good on some tricky waves all day. i think Coach Rainos will have a really hard time picking the team.

i was just filming all weekend and not surfing like all the kids but i am exhausted. i'm going to sleep good tonight!
