Amazing how young surfers are trying to make difference in the surfing world!

I met up with Carissa Moore and Mahina Maeda at Kewalos today. Carissa started the Rookie of the Year award for girls at NSSA National Championships and Mahina was the winner this year.

Carissa wanted to congratulate Mahina in person even tho she is super busy so I decided to take some photos of them together.

I think it's great what Carissa started, remembering where she started and giving back. I know lot of little girls look up to Carissa and I feel she's a great role model for everyone. she is so humble, always smiling and very approachable despite of her success.

Congrats Mahina and thank you Carissa for being a great role model for all the younger kids!

Ezekiel Lau has been busy appearing on different tv news trying to have schools recognize surfing as a "sport".

S2E26: Hawaii Groms at NSSA National Championships 2010 at Salt Creek & Huntington Beach

Just uploaded the new video webisode of Novus Swell!

NSSA National Championships were held at Salt Creek and Huntington Beach, CA this summer. Many of Hawaii young surfers were their after qualifying from their 2009-2010 season. The waves were far from perfect but everyone surfed well, many making to the finals and some winning their divisions! Congrats to all surfers who qualified and invited to this event!

Up&Riding Grand Opening at Kahala Mall with Hawaii's top young surfers!

I went to Kahala Mall for the grand opening of Up&Riding. If you don't know what Up&Riding is, it is a surf shop for kids.

You want those sick Quiksilver trunks Noa Mizuno's wearing for your 3yr old nephew? Up&Riding got them!

They pretty much got everything you want for your kids... shirts, shorts, dresses, trunks, bikinis, everything!

They had a nice Hawaiian blessing along with live Hawaiian music to kick off the grand opening.

Some of Hawaii's top young surfers were there to sign their autographs too.

It was really cool too see kids getting posters signed by these surfers.

BUT... these surfers are just normal kids. Give them posters and pens, this happens.
